Hardly seems possible that another year has passed since this annual letter was last authored. But within that year’s time have passed many events. We are thankful that most of them are positive, so hopefully there will be no hidden complaints herein.
Thankfully we remain in good health. Some of that may be attributed to getting to the gym an average of 5 days a week. Our workouts become our excuse for our various aches and pains which are most likely attributed to the aging process.
The most significant thing this past year was our return to Alaska. We left Omaha on May 16 and returned home on September 18. Although this recurrence was to again be property caretakers through the summer, it became more a stay at and be with our good friends, the Chapmans. We were also very fortunate to have both Becky and Shelly and their families fly to Alaska and spend time with us touring the state. The sights and experiences were magnificent!
We still do some volunteer work through our church. Peggy does the occasional school secretary substitution, and Tom teaches during Science Olympiad events. And, we have the pleasure of helping out with babysitting our granddaughter, Gabby, when the need arises. So yes, we remain strong advocates of retirement!
Our other granddaughters, Macy and Halle, and their mommy and daddy have moved to Laramie, WY, where Pete is now the minister at the Laramie United Methodist Church. Their move now gives us another vacation destination although we miss the ease of a 2 hour drive to visit them.
One could go into greater depth as to what else has transpired, but being a rather lazy sort, it is much easier to let pictures speak the volumes that could be written. So, for those of you with online access, aim your browser at:
There you will find a myriad number of events and their photographs. Most of the photos are captioned and help tell the story of what you are seeing. If you are into mathematics and subscribe to the adage, “A picture is worth a 1000 words”, you will realize why a single Christmas letter couldn’t describe it all.
If photos aren’t enough there are a few videos that we’ve posted online (maybe this is how Steven Spielberg got his start?). They can be viewed at:
So, with that, we bid you adieu and hope you and yours enjoy a very Merry Christmas and a blessed Happy New Year.
Tom and Peggy
